I came across a forum today on GPT's. For the life of me, I didnt know what that meant. But whatever it did mean, people on that forum were making some decent money from it.
I visited a couple of the recommended sites where I could play, refer or complete an offer to make money, and it got me more confused. Lots of flashing banners. Big annoying scrolling marquees. I was expecting the streamers to fall down announcing that I am the millionth customer.
I can take a guess that GPT stands for Get Paid To.... Wikipedia has confirmed that Get Paid To (GPT) website is a type of website where users are paid to do certain tasks. A Google search using keywords GET PAID TO, it came up with 201,000,000 matches. Wow, that's a lot of opportunities to get rich folks.
From what I understand, I complete one offer. I get paid xx amount, and/or get free products. I place their banner advertising on my site and I get more money from referrals. All the recommended sites I visited were running monthly referral contests and you can win up to $75 additional for the month. It sounds so easy and you can definitely see the possibilities.
The more that I research GPT, the more scarier it sounds. Members are not getting paid. Referrals are not credited properly. In order to make $0.50, you have to give out a lot of your own personal information and I'm not very comfortable with that. And I'm sure Google Adsense will have something to say about it if I stuck a referral button on my site.

It IS scary that people don't get paid... Most of it has to do with people not keeping track of what is really legit out there. I mean, if it's too good to be true, it probably is.
