So, let's talk about Social Bookmarkers. Why does your blog need it? I feel that a successful blog should have social bookmarkers to give its visitors the flexibility to save your website in the most convenient way.

Having an RSS feed and a newsletter is not enough to bring back your viewers. You see, not every website surfer out there subscribe to them. I myself get my email flooded with all these update notifications. It takes me days, maybe even weeks before I'll get a chance to read them. By then, it's old news already. I prefer to keep track of my favourite sites through Technorati and Delicious. So, if you don't have these bookmarkers on your site, I might not be back again, unless I see you surfing through Blog Explosion or Blog Soldiers.

It's a good thing that blogs are now catching up on this concept. After all, this is an essential part of blog promotion. I only use the big social bookmarking sites, like Digg, Technorati and Delicious for my blogs. It's too easy to get carried away and put every single bookmarkers you can find. Your blog tends to get too cluttered and messy. For a list of bookmarkers and the codes to embed them on your blog, check out 3Spots.

I did, however, find a messy-icon fix while I was surfing for new social bookmarking sites. I dont know if anyone ever has used Socializeit.com, but it gives you one button for bookmarking. They give you a code to install on your site and when the button is clicked by your visitors, it takes them to a page where there are 60 bookmarking choices. Similar to what Feedburner has done to eliminate having a million feed buttons on your site.

If you use this site, or do use this site, don't forget to come back here and tell us how it's working for you. I know, I would like to know....

Just imagine... keyless doors. Somebody out there was listening to my prayers. It might not have been Santa Claus, but Brink House Security is good enough.

I have lost my house keys so many times that I do not have enough fingers to count them. It has created so much stress for me in the past. You know, single asian female living alone. In the 'burbs. Loosing your keys raises a set of alarming security issues. What if someone finds them and tries to rob my house? What if someone comes in while I am sleeping?

With Brink House Security fingerprint door lock, I no longer have to worry about losing keys. All I need are my fingers! In fact, the security system recognizes up to 100 fingerprints. It is a much more reliable security device than your average lock or keypad. Only an authorized fingerprint will open the door. How very 21st century is that? Even James Bond might has something to be envy about.

When Lem and I buy our house, this is a feature on the must-have-list that we are going to be installing. It lessens the stress he feels when I *ahem* misplace my keys. This system also has other very nice features such as automatic locking, easy installation, and simple to operate. I bet even Lem could manage this on his own.

As I have mentioned in my previous post Are Your Amazon Ads Generating You Money? , Tumri is an excellent substitution for your Amazon Ads. What I really like about them is the fact that their ads are so nicely presented. If you are trying to catch impulse buyers on your blog or website, presentation is they key. This is where Amazon fails you as a revenue generator. There is no question about it, using their CornerStore ads will generate you revenue. Unlike Amazon, Tumri pays you for clickthroughs on certain advertisements.

Since running that article, I have received a lot of questions from friends and bloggers that I wouldn't even try to answer. Instead, I decided to send Jason at Tumri the questions and this is his reply:

We will be rolling out a beta version of our StoreBuilder. StoreBuilder will allow publishers such as yourself to completely customize what products are shown in the widget. You will be able to select brands, merchants, product categories and set price points. You will be able to create as many stores as you want or change existing ones on a daily basis if you wanted to; and we will share the revenue with you. Please let me know whether you would like to participate or have any further questions about the Beta program.

Also, we do not violate the Google Adsense terms as we are not ‘contextual’; we do not scan the content of the page. We have behavioral based targeting where we optimize revenue based on user behavior and also as mentioned above, publishers will be able to completely control what is displayed within the widget.

The commission that we will payout to you will be based on a combination of click based revenue offers and order based revenue offers. Click based or CPC (cost per click) commission occurs when a valid click is made on any CPC based product offer. Order based commission or CPO (cost per order) occurs when a lead/click is generated from your site to one of our merchant partners and an order is made. You will receive a percentage of that total order amount. After you have selected the product categories that you want to display in the widget, we will optimize the CPC and CPO product offers based on the user behavior so as to maximize your commission.

It sure would be nice to get some extra cash this holiday season. After all, Christmas only comes once a year. There are bills to pay and presents to buy at the same time. If you find it hard to juggle all your December expenses, why don't you consider applying for a cash advance or a payday loan?

Before applying for a cash advance or payday loan, first find out the facts first and read the fine print. PayDayCashAdvanceLoans.Biz offers borrowers’ unbiased information about the payday loan process and helps put consumers in contact with lenders specifically tailored to their cash advance needs. It just takes a moment to prequalify for a payday cash advance loan and apply for a low interest rate loan! All you need to provide is a steady source of income and a checking account. No credit check is required. It's that easy and you will get your money within 24 hours!

Now, doesn't this make for a very nice, stress free holiday season?

I was keeping up with my SEO stuff today and found this really neat site. I'm not really sure if it is helpful for everyone, but I thought it was rather interesting....

This site is sort of like a popular website meter that cross references Google against Yahoo. I ran my website address and keywords, it's weird to see that sometime Google indexes it on top and then yahoo on the bottom of the scale or vice versa.

I know, I know. That doesn't even rhyme right.

I'm getting some serious cabin fever because of all this snow! It finally let up yesterday evening and we got dumped close to 20 inches. Our street is still not drivable, but the highway is. We're never ready for snow, and no matter what year it is, there is always some salting truck or city snow pluck going off the road to the ditch. We still have more snow alerts for Wednesday and Thursday. It looks like I'm gonna have to cancel my mecca to downtown to see some friends. Poor Lem, he's had to deal with a very cranky, homebound, crazy woman.

We're in the middle of designing our new custom pvc clothing for Vancouver Wholesale and it's going great. A week ago or so, we received the sample products from China after sending them pictures of what we wanted. A little nip, and a little tuck, moving a button here and there, the samples are ready to go back to China for more revisions. We still haven't come up with a name of the new collection yet. But it's really fun having to design all these sexy, clubwear outfits. We are going to get them all in every color - until Lem tells me that we have to stick to the budget.... Oh well.

Time goes so slow when I'm putting together boring articles. I am stuck with this one - Top Cosmetic Surgery for Men - and have been for days. I have all the research done, and I've put it together in a very nice piece. But somehow, it's just not calling out to me. You know what I mean? If you don't, well, that's you and me together. No clue what to do with it.

Well, at least bigger than my real life size 5'2"! At Wallhogs, I can blow up a picture of me into a 7 feet tall by over 4 feet wide rendition. And I just know where to put it up! When Lem and I finally get our place, it is going in his study room so that he will always get a chance to look up and see my face. I know he'll just love it!

I'm going to take one of the pictures we took when we first met at Saigon. At Wallhogs.com I can erase all the background junk I don't want (sorry Mudzy, sorry John and everyone else) and I'll put a bubble that says "I Will Go Wherever You Go Lem - Don't You Ever Forget It!". I can have it printed on a semi-adhesive vinyl and sent it to me via UPS. All for less than $100!!! Yey!

Now I've got you all thinking on how fun this project could be. Kids would just love it, and adults, well, could get very creative. Did you know Wallhogs.com have licensed Gwen Stefani? I know I would love to have a wall size picture of her!!!

Just like Google Adsense, most Bloggers use Amazon ads to generate additional website revenue. It is very easy to get approved for an Amazon associate account and they give you a decent amount of widget sizes to start with.

I went Amazon ad crazy when I first got my account, until I realized what a waste of space it was. Now, I personally think that Amazon produces the most tackiest widgets. And with the release of Amazon Omakase ads, every color blind blogger has gone color crazy with them. Unless you know how to use their API integration to your website, it is hard to seamlessly integrate their ads.

So, my question is, in all the time you have used Amazon Ads, have you generated any income? And if you haven't, maybe it's about time to look for other money generating solutions.

Shopping.com released its own shop widgets version late this summer. Shop Widgets are pre-built ad units that you can easily place on any web site. Shopping.com supplies you with three widget sizes showcasing their product catalog, merchant offers, and Epinions content onto your site. I like their program better because the widgets are easy to integrate and user ratings for the product displayed are shown. To apply, visit http://partners.shopping.com

Another solution is Tumri CornerStore. The ads are flashy and come in really nice fancy rounded corner boxes. Their fully-automated merchandising network provides an intelligent and efficient way to deliver relevant retail offers to interested online consumers. I really like this concept. Check them out at http://www.tumri.com

And true to Vancouver fashion, give us a couple of centimeter of snow and all hell breaks loose. I betcha people back east still go out and party even if they have 10 centimeters of snow on the ground. We are so pathetic sometime when it comes to a little bit of snow. And to think we are hosting the 2010 olympics.

For most of you who are not familiar with Vancouver. We are just about the warmest part of Canada. We get a lot of rain. One big snowfall so that Father Snow can say he's done it. And that's pretty much it.

Driving to my mom's house today from Surrey to Burnaby was absolutely horrible. It's a good thing I didnt have to go through Richmond. I can't even begin to imagine how bad is bad driving when it snows.

Which reminds me, the other day, I caught an episode of Canada's Worst Drivers. How come no asians ever got into that show? Everyone knows were the bad ass drivers.

Up until my engagement to Lem, I never really knew what the selection process was to find the perfect diamond for my engagement ring. He was so excited to tell me that it was a VVS1, Color G, 2 carat, 3 stone I-Love-You Setting. He was so proud of himself that he found the perfect diamond during one of his trips to the United States for the christmas holidays last year.

So, what does that exactly mean? For me, the sentimentality of getting an extraordinary ring was enough. Until I started looking around the internet to find out what kind of a gem I actually have. Or realizing what is a good deal in buying Diamonds.

Are all diamonds created equal? What is the importance of clarity, cut, and color? Will the shape and style affect the overall look of the diamond? Abazias Diamonds has a very informative Diamond Education section where you can learn what makes one diamond different from another. Find out what the 4 C's are in diamond selection. These are very important stuff that you need to know before purchasing a diamond.

Abazias Diamonds also features over 80,000 loose diamonds and a wide selection of jewelry at wholesale prices. So, if you are shopping for that perfect engagement ring, that's over 80,000 reasons for her to say yes!

Searching for a diamond on their website is very easy. First you chose the style of the ring - Round, Princess, Oval, Emerald, Marquise, Assher, or Cushion. Then select a diamond price range between $1,000 or less to $100,000 or more. The next step is selecting a diamond carat range from 0.10 carats to 4 carats or more. The website will present you with such a great selection to chose from that you will not be disappointed! You can select by carat, color, clarity, cut, price and certification. If this is not easy enough, you can take their ring builder for a spin. You point, you drag, and they show you the engagement ring that you are looking for.

Now, if Lem only knew that if he went to Abazias Diamonds first he would have cut down his 3- month search for a perfect diamond into 15 minutes, he would have been really annoyed at me. But we are still shopping for wedding rings. And I'm not passing up on the Anniversary Rings either. I'll make sure that I give him this really nice tip.

Happy Thanksgiving to all my friends in the US! I hope you are all enjoying the holidays with your family and friends. And doin' some crazy shopping!

Lem left last night at midnight because he had this crazy hairbrained idea to go shopping at Best Buy for Black Friday. He checked out the sale first on the internet. Made his list of goodies to buy (he is such a gold) so that he wont forget a single thing.

He took our lawn chairs, sleeping bags and off he went with Peter to line up out side Best Buy. In the bloody cold. The store opened at 5am and he was able to get everything on his wish list - laptop, two mega sized screen monitors.

He was so happy and excited that he had to set it up before he went to sleep. He found out that he didnt like the laptop. And the mega screen monitors wont fit on this desk together with the laptop and keyboard.

Right before he went to sleep. He was muttering about wanting to return everything back. I just know he'll feel differently when he wakes up.

Lem and I are still looking for properties, and in tune with the christmas season, we've created my wish list for Santa. Please wrap up these wonderful houses for me and let me find the keys under the christmas tree?

Pick #1 - Lem and I think this is Baltar's House in Battlestar Galactica. Going for $25million. See the video

Pick #2 - $6.8million palatial mansion See the video

Pick #3 - $2.45million beachside estate See the video

The only other ways we can think of if Santa does not bring us these presents this Christmas, is ....
Winning the lottery
Rob a bank
Great uncle dies a leaves us about $25 million bucks

Well, Michael Hasman is selling all the properties we want. The only thing is, he doesnt really sell anything under a million bucks. Even the Fairmont Penthouse dowtown he's selling for $12 million. I mean, why get that when we can get a $10 million home in West Van?

Here I go again with the wishful thinking....

I am waiting for Lem to finish watching the last two episodes of Stargate Atlantis on his laptop. After that, we are going to watch the latest Battlestar Galactica episodes. He's taking tooooo long.......

So, let me bore you all with details of what's happening in my life lately.

You know my cousin Gem from Singapore? Well, it turns out that she's getting married. Met the man of her dreams and in the 6 months, they are engaged! So very happy for her. She's going to Edmonton (Alberta, Canada) to visit some friends, and Lem and I will be hopping over there in December to meet up with her. Maybe I can get my sister to come with us. It'll be like a little family reunion. We've never met her before.

I am preparing to learn a cms management system. For those of you who are not familiar with it. CMS is content management. Blogger and Wordpress are Blogging software. CMS is taking it one step further. It's going to Drupal vs Joomla. All my buddies are writing on Joomla. I hear Joomla is very good with out of the box ready to go functionality. But from what I understand that Drupal is better. Any one has got thoughts on this? Let me know. I dont want to learn both. I get confused so easy. :)

I am going to sign Lem up for some extra work in the movies. So that he can visit a Stargate set or Battlegalactica set. He is so, so excited.

Okay, well, maybe I'll just have him stop his shows so we can watch mine.

American Greetings website is just full of Christmas Holiday goodies this season! And it does not stop at the free printable greeting card that I blogged about earlier. Now, you can download free Christmas wallpapers and Thanksgiving wallpapers, interactive desktop & screensavers. They are bright, fun, cheery and really just gets you in the holiday spirit.

There are so many to choose from. There are about 16 wallpaper christmas choices - there's santa, reindeers, snowman, eskimos and cherubs dancing on your screen - with flexible download sizes to fit your screen. They've got nature screensavers, contemporary screensavers, funny screensavers, and a lot more! There is something for everyone's liking. Oh, and I did mention that downloading them are free right? Everything you download from the American Greetings website will not come with spyware or adware, unlike other popular wallpapers and screensavers sites.

It's about time I changed my screensaver. So, I downloaded a tropical screensaver to start to take mae away from this crazy Vancouver rainy weather. Closer to the christmas holidays, I'll download a bright red christmas theme. And most likely after the new year, I'll download the floral pattern of nature.

Go visit American Greetings soon and get your wallpaper! Christmas is not sticking around for long! Catch it before it's gone!!!!

I learned a very valuable lesson this morning about moving your Blogspot Address to your own domain. Blogger automatically makes your Blogspot Address available for anyone to grab. And in my case, it was gone in minutes.

I am in the process of migrating my Blogspot sites to their own domain. The first one to go was Cruise Headlines. The move was smooth because I only really just had test posts on Blogspot. I moved The Discount Diva its own domain around midnight and within minutes my blogspot address - thediscountdiva.blogspot.com was taken by a squatter.

I did everything I heard I was supposed to do - leave a message on my blogspot address that I was moving and provided the domain address. Change my ftp settings to my domain. And off I went.

The moral of the story is - if you have visitor stats of over 100 a day (like The Discount Diva), you should also re-register your blogspot address the minute you upload the ftp settings. This will ensure that your previous visitors (or links to ads or articles on the net) will still find you. And not some squatter whore who will reap the benefits of your self promotion.

May that squatter burn in hell.

American Greetings just released their online printable greeting card software. With the holiday season just around the corner, it is a perfect tool to use to customize your greeting cards. Say what you really want to say. Nothing means more than a message from the heart. There are so many occasions to chose from - thanksgiving, christmas, just because, and anniversary birthday cards!

So, how do you get started in making your own custom printable American Greetings card? Very easy. Visit their free printables website. Choose an occasion. Customize your card. And print.

You can add photos to your cards. Select really cool text, styles and colors. You can also customize the graphics that show up on your card. Even I can do this right. You don't have to know much about graphic design in order to make your card dazzle! You point at a feature. You click. And it appears!

The best thing is, to use this software, you do not have to disclose any personal information such as email address or credit card information. That is very cool.

... Or at least know which colors go with what.

I was just playing around with a Beta Blogger template for customization, and suddenly I had this hair brained idea to change the colors. No matter, how many html hex codes you give me with all the fancy colors, I still cant seem to figure out which color goes with what. And of course, somewhere in between the whole miss, you see the Diva's trademark hot pink color. When things go wrong, things go wrong.

I just moved The Discount Diva from blogger to its own domain. Whoopeedooo... So I am left with the daunting task to fix The Designer Diva and take out all the hot pink. I need help.

So, as you all Blogger lovers know, Beta Blogger users will not be able to just cut and copy existing free templates out there designed for Blogger. It's a real pain because there are some really cool ones out there. There isn't much available yet for beta blogger, so you will be beholden to what their sucky template selection can offer you.

I know this is a move to give us all blogger users goodies available to the wordpress. But the developers missed the point. Most Bloggers are looking to differentiate their blog's look more than the need to have tags. Blogger really should have come up with new templates to go with the Beta Blogger issue.

Sometime today I am going to try to customize a beta blogger supplied template. It looks like I just have to modify some codes. The rain and the wind is in full force again today, and I hope I dont lose electricity in the middle of it.

I've been getting so many inquiries on the Imaginary Diva about PayPerPost and how to get started in it. Or to give them feedback on how are things going at my end....

I usually just send them over to AnIndianSummer because she was the one who first recommended that I do it, and she's been doing it longer than I have.

But now, all you have to do to find out more about PayPerPost is to visit their forum!

There's questions and answers for Bloggers and from bloggers. It's also a great place for bloggers to hang out and talk about everything else happening in the Blogospher. If you are an advertiser looking to get hooked up with the Blogging community, there's also a section for you to check out!

I've always been superstitious and you know, the older you get, the more set in your ways you become.

Today I caught myself knocking on wood three times after thinking a bad thought. I've been doing that since I was a little kid. Hmmmm..... And it was about something really silly too. Something about not waking up in time to meet my mother tomorrow. By knocking three times on wood I drive away the bad spirits from making my bad thoughts happen.

Nuts and Crazy. But that's me.....

Other things I am superstitious about:

  • Crossing a Black Cat's path - No way Jose. Lem will have to do a u-turn or else he'll have to contend with a crazy woman all day waiting for bad things to happen. It's true! I can remember the last time I crossed a black cat's path I lost my keys. All 100 of them. And someone used it to break in to my apartment. I had one of those tags on the key chain to return the keys to my home address.

  • Breaking a mirror - Ten years of bad luck. I can't even handle it if I have a full year of bad luck, much less, a full ten years!

  • If a utensil falls from the table I'll get a visitor - male if a fork falls down and female if a spoon falls down. If the knife falls down, god knows what will come knocking on my door. Haven't figured that one out yet.

  • If my ears are on fire, someone is talking about me. Good Talk. But if my cheeks are burning, then someone is talking bad about me.

See, I am a true product of my parents generation. We never realize how alike we are to them, until we get older.

CreditCardSearchEngine.com makes it easy for you to find the right Credit Cards for your financial needs. You can compare credit cards, decide which one you want and then apply! It's as easy as that.

The site is so easy to navigate and you can compare credit cards that are low interest, have cash back benefits, great reward points and airline miles. To make it even easier, you can search by credit card brand or credit card issuer. Got bad credit rating? No problem, there are credit cards available for you also!

Go ahead and check them out!

Wow, the effect is so fantastic!

I am a big fan of Blogger because of its customization features that is so tedious to replicate with Wordpress. But, it's almost making me want to convert! I've always been envious of those 3 column templates readily available with Wordpress. And all those other widgets that I actually will have to code the script myself if I want it - like top commenters, latest comments, and yes, the list goes on. He's got them all neatly placed on his site.

Well, if you haven't been by Golbguru's site - his site is about making money, money management, personal finance, debt, credit cards and more! What a change! Love it.

Maybe you'll see a wordpress blog from me in the future?

Each website I make, I try to gear to a specific audience. I keep all my sites as simple as possible. I try to use smaller word syllables and simple sentence structures. I want to attract readers that are the tv guide types who also likes to read novels from time to time. Lem has been promising to take me to the movies and he's cancelled out on me, oh about, a million times. He's got a new project on the go with a whole bunch of friends from university, and they now meet about 3 or 4 times a week. At night. When they can all get away from their jobs. So, I am off again with nothing to do because the original meeting was for tomorrow. Changed for tonight. No movie.

I am really looking forward to seeing the new movies that just came out - the new bond film Casino Royale, Happy Feet (I want to watch it at the Imax Theatre in Langley) , Babel (Cate Blanchette is my fav!) and The Fountain (Who can resist Hugh Jackman?)

Lem and I still have a lot of those movie vouchers, and he better take me before these go to videos.... Or I'll just have to personally write Santa that he's been very bad.

So, how do you customize your links on your pre-made Blogger template? Very easy.

Let's start with the color in which they appear on your template.
    Go to your template
Hit Control+F (together) on your keypad
    Find
    Before > copy and paste - link="#eeeeee" vlink="#eeeeee" alink="#eeeeee"
You just changed all the links on your page to a gray color!

Here's the breakdown of the BODY tag attributes:
    link - link
    vlink - visited link
    alink - active link

Now, let's customize the color you want for the link!
    http://web.njit.edu/~kevin/rgb.txt.html
    http://www.december.com/html/spec/color.html
You can substitute eeeeee to any six digit numeric / alphabet combination.

The black out yesterday that left over 40,000 lower mainland customers in the dark, was a big wake up call for me.

When it happened yesterday, there were no flashlights to be found in the house. Nada, not a single one! And when relatives came over yesterday after deciding to get off the highway and wait it out at our place, I realized that they do not carry flashlights either as part of their "car emergency". So, I have decided to give everyone flashlights as christmas presents this year.

It is just the little things that we forget because we have relied too much on modern technology.

So, for those of you affected by the storm, make sure you are prepared next time. Have a couple of heavy duty flashlights at home - such as SureFire, Streamlight , and Pelican. These flashlights are used by the police, firefighters and military folks. Dont forget to have a flashlight for your car also as part of your emergency car kit.

OpticsPlanet.net is having a sale! Just right on time for the holidays too! Discount pricing on led flashlights, hands free headlamps, pocket, gun mount lights, flash light accessories. Discount pricing and free UPS on order over $29.95.

Do not be left out in the dark next time! It pays to be prepared.

Can you believe this weather???? Felt like we are in the middle of a hurricane's path. We've had no eletricity since 3PM. No heat. No flashlight. No internet.

Lem and I finally decided to look for internet access at 5:30PM. Drove around Ditchmond (Richmond) and tried to look for a coffee shop. The trip was a nightmare. We all know drivers in Richmond can not drive, and I dare you to prove otherwise. I wish I had a camera to video tape their way of doing four way stops when the lights are out. Part of Richmond was also in the black and we ended up back in Surrey at Mudzy's!

I can not believe he's got electricity. It did go off for about 15 minutes and back up again. I got my internet fix all hooked up...... You all know we are talking about all of you right?

On Sunday, Lem surprised me with dinner at one of my favourite restaurant's downtown - Yoshoku-Ya. It's one of those asian fusion restaurants - French food cooked Japanese style. I know. Kind of hard to imagine, huh?

We set off to go to the salsa event over at the rowing club to meet up with some friends. There was no parking, unless we wanted to walk a mile to do some dancing. And it was pouring rain. If you've ever been in Vancouver when it's raining, you know that you don't get that fuzzy feeling like Gene Kelly singing in the rain. You just turn into a slab of ice if you dont walk fast. So cold.

We ended up at Saigon instead. They took pity at our sad, wet state and found us a table in the back. We wanted to sing karaoke but we were not called up at all. The DJ was really nice though and played some really good salsa tunes. Sort of a consolation price......

Vinnie is now back from China. The ballroom dancers were out in full force. And I was even able to convince Lem to do the cha-cha-cha.

Corinna and Claudette, if you guys are reading this - I bumped into Wayne! Of all places. Remember all those times we asked him to come out to Saigon but kept on saying it wasn't his scene? Well, it turns out that he's been converted over because he's been back to the motherland with his mom a couple of times. Or maybe old age. Just like me.

Lilia, guess who else was there..... Roberto. Your pilot friend. Did we finally figured out if he was a real pilot, or he just said that to impress the girls? All the crazy things we got into when were were single.

Birthday alert - Claudette's birthday is this Thursday night at 7PM and I need to know who wants to go. It's going to be at a Japanese restaurant and maybe dancing afterwards. Dave and Wayne are coming with me. Drop me a comment if I should add your name to the reservation list!

I owe AnIndianSummer a big hug and a kiss for getting me all hooked up with PayPerPost. Actually, I had the account ages ago, but I had forgotten all about it. If it wasn't for Bug reminding me to give it a go, I would not have realized how profitable blogging-for-a-living is.

PayPerPost is an awesome service that relies on word of mouth marketing. They connect bloggers with advertisers. Bloggers make extra cash and advertisers get their buzz out. PayPerPost has so many open opportunites for bloggers to take advantage of! It's a total win, win situation. And bloggers walk away with the money!

So, as of today, I have made seven posts with PayPerPost and four already have been approved within days of publishing. It's kind of addicting really, watching the clock count down 30 days until I get paid! And receiving your payment couldn't be any easier. You can get paid through Paypal. Instant, quick, and accessible.

My christmas fund $$ is now in better shape thanks to PayPerPost!

If you are a Blogger user and you don't like the pre-made templates available, then you are in luck. Here are a couple of places to check out to get a good quality template for free:

  • Angie McKaig

If you have signed up for Beta Blogger, you might be getting your tags / categories as a new feature, but most of the free blog templates available are not compatible to the Beta version. You will have to get your Blogger template customized.

If you would like to spend some $$ getting that custom look - a blog that screams hello world, here are some great designers that I recommend you to take a look at:

The holiday season is just around the corner. It's time to make a gift list, hit the shopping centers, and spend lots of money.

January comes, and I'll have realized that I've gained extra holiday weight, my credit card bill is maxed, and my long distance phone bill has hit the roof. That wouldn't be a great way to start 2007 for sure.

Well, I'm shopping smarter, looking for great sales. And I've signed up with Pingo's International prepaid calling cards for my long distance!

I just added a whole new page of new cousins that I need to call for the Christmas Holidays! Like Gem in Singapore (1.5 cents), Faith in San Diego (1.8 cents), Abraham in the Philippines (14.5 cents), Tony in Saudi Arabia (17 cents), Paul in Germany (2.2 cents), Karen in Taiwan (2.5 cents).... Hey, dont look at me, I told you my father has so many siblings. You just cant call one and not the other! My sister Jaz and nephew Rashid in California (1.8 cents), my relatives in New York, Texas, Florida (1.8 cents)..... My family is so big and so international. With my Pingo long distance card, I can guarantee that it will help me save a bundle on my international long distance.

Pingo is making it really sweet and nice to sign up for their long distance plan - you get $5.00 in free calls! And if you refer a friend, you get another $5.00 in free calls. Another donate to the Diva shoutout - let me refer you so I can get more savings!!!! We all know how expensive it is to keep in touch with loved ones! I can spend that $5.00 talking to Rashid. He just turned 2 years old. He cant talk much yet, but that's okay. We can do baby talk long distance for 2 1/2 hours.

Sometime earlier this year, a cousin of mine found me on Friendster. How she found me, I am not really sure. I dont really make my last name public. I am very paranoid / schizo about internet privacy.

I have never met Gem before. She now lives in Singapore. (Kunstemaecker, just in case you were interested - this is the sexy, single cousin I was telling you about.....) She's two years younger than me. But I know her older sister quite well. When I was still living in the US, Faith used to come for thoes week long Bible conventions. And even when I moved to Canada, I used to fly to wherever she is to hook up.

So, today, I was having another look at her Friendster profile because I received notification of new friends being added. I found more cousins! I am not really sure why they are so open about publishing their personal information on the web, but what the heck. It's very cool. And just for the heck of it, I sent messages to everyone else asking if I am also related to them.

My dad comes from a family of 12 or 13 or something like that. And each brother / sister has an average of 4 children. Some has over 10 kids and to make us all remember their names, their parents named them alphabetically - Abraham, Benjamin, Charity, Daniel... I think you get where I am going with this. I have never been back to the Philippines, so I dont know much about them.

I would have turned out so different if my parents didnt migrate to the US. To think of the possibilities.....

The Elmo TMX is number one on my christmas list. I have given up on Toys'R'Us being able to supply me a doll locally so I am going to have to rely on Amazon.

I know Santa's been counting all the good things I've done this year :) And I've been super good.....

    NOTE TO SANTA:
I am not really very picky, but please dont get me a used Elmo TMX. I want a new one. :)

Went downtown for my bi-monthly mecca. Our lunch crowd is getting quite big. It used to just be Carrie and I, and perhaps another person. Yesterday, there were 5 of us. I feel so bad not keeping up with everyone but life sometimes just takes over, you know, and you are off doing other things. I am happy that everyone is doing well amidst all - Sara's big breakup, Dave's medical problems and Carrie's work stuff. It just proves how uneventful my life is compared to theirs.

I also made it to the Vancouver Law Courts for a Salsa social last night with Carrie, Dave and Alia. Danced up quite a storm. Bumped into more people I havent seen in ages. The funny thing about the salsa crowd is that you know all the faces, but I dont think we ever knew each other's names. I miss going. But living in Surrey, it's an hour drive home at 2AM.

And as usual, I am feeling sore all over the place. My ankles killing me. I feel my thighs can't support me. And my shoulder's dislocated. I took an afternoon nap because I felt so tired. Too much fun is never good fo you. I think my dad used to tell me that. I forget.

Okay, those of you who've known since God knows when, knows that I am obsessed with the Energizer Bunny. It just keeps on going, and going, and going....

I am strange I must admit it? But did I tell you about the time that I went to Maryland for a training seminar during Halloween and bumped into the bunny? Ah, you must ask me about that sometime..... I've got a great story to tell.

There's a new commercial out on TV. I caught it yesterday. You know, the one with the bunny and the aliens. I am so disappointed that youtube doesnt have a posting of the commercial yet.....

There are times that I'm just working on too many things at one time. Lem just reminded me that I have to try to work smarter and not spread myself thin by getting involved in every project that I find interesting.

So, I've made a decision to stay away from extra stress - not promoting Clickbank anymore and closing my ioffer store. Sure, Clickbank has produced revenue in the past, it's just not profitable if I were to spend that time focusing and building on one of my stronger sites. And ioffer store - well, folks, this is the last of my own personal e-commerce stores. Sticking with content...

The other day I caught the finals of Celebrity Duet. First time I've seen it, and my fav cylon Lucy Lawless was up against Alfonso Ribiero. Didnt know she could sing. Xena Warrior Princess sure has retreated into the shadows and comes out Supermodel Diva - Great Re-invention. She lost. But it was a great performance. Here's the video of the performance.

Vancouver Fall weather has hit us with a force. Lots of rain. Lots of flooding. Damp, Cold and Ugly.

I've been waking up with a sore throat, itchy eyes and sinus headache almost every morning no matter if I sleep away from the window. I've been loading up on my vitamins just to make sure that it doesnt get worse than just a sore throat. I know you've heard me whine about this many times. I just cant seem to shake it off.

My sister made me take her extra humidifier last Sunday and told me that it will make a difference in how I feel. She knows I catch colds very easily. And I cant believe it, the last two days has been pain free, and even Lem says that I've been sleeping better the last two nights (he says I snore when I am not feeling well....) Plus, the dryness I've been feeling - skin and lips - is getting better. I dont feel too dehydrated.

I'm looking to buy a humidifier now because my sister wants hers back when I see her next Sunday. Besides, hers is just a small one. I'd like to get a bigger one. I dont really know much about buying one, so I've been researching on the net to see which type I should buy. I found complete guide to buying a house humidifier quite useful. I think I've narrowed it down to a Honeywell. Now, I'm going to look to see what kind of deals I can get on the net.

If you're thinking of purchasing a humidifier, check out the site - Do You Need a Humidifier?. It can give you some useful tips of what to buy.

It's been raining all day. When will it stop?? It looks very sad and dark outside. Days like this I just want to be lazy. And thank god I have the luxury of being lazy whenever I want. Mondays used to be very hectic back when I was still working a 9-5 job.

Today's been a good day - I received notification that WestJet approved my affiliate status! Yoohoo! You know how many times I have applied just to be turned down time after time? Then, I found a couple great medical source for reprintable articles pertaining to health, fitness and diet. It's awesome!

I decided not to go workout with Lem today because my clothes didnt dry on time. I spent the time instead gossiping on the phone with an old friend about this and about that. And about nothing. And about all the fun everyone else is having. It's going to be a very busy holiday season for us and all I can do is live precariously through my friends entertaining lives.

    Oh well.

A wise internet guru once told me that you should treat your blog as piece of real estate. Every single post, link, image that you put on your site should serve a useful purpose that will lead you ultimately to financial success.

I use my personal blog to test the "new" stuff I find surfing the net. To see what advantages it will get me before it gets added to my revenue generating sites.

Let's take for example my affiliate link Million Dollar Jackpot on the sidebar. I consider the test as a success. I've had visitor registrations beyond what I expected when I first added that link to this blog. However, in order to measure the true ratio of success, I need to know how many visitor clickthroughs it generated so I can compare it to the amount of registrations. This will also give me a better idea on how to calculate my future quarterly income.

Another example is Clickbank. Every other blogger out there has promoted them on their blogs. In my numerous sites, I have provided over 150 links to Clickbank. Since they only provide a purchase report and not a link activity report, there are still times that I wonder if anyone really is coming through the link. It's quite disheartening considering the amount of time that I have invested to add those links, to talk about the books, and promote their products. And my report is a big fat 0.

It's time to work a little bit smarter and invest the time only to those financial internet strategies that work. I have come across Bingr.com. This is a free service that let's you track all the clickthroughs from a link or series of links. You can create a redirect code through Bingr.com from an affiliate referral code.

I am now tracking the million dollar jackpot and Big Stock Photo link. It's great because it takes the guess work out. Now I really know how many visitors clicked through the link and passed up on it. It gives me a better idea of my expected revenue and which affiliates I can build up or give up.

In order to change your Blogger template header, you will need to find the CSS code that instructs how your header will look like on your blog.

Here is a list of all pre-made templates offered by Blogger and where their header code is located:
  • Minima, Minima Ochre, 897, 565, and Rounders - #header {
  • Scribe - #blog-header {
  • Snapshot - #header div {
  • Moto and TicTac - #blog-header h1 {
  • Thisaway - #blog-header div {
  • Tekka - #Title{
  • Simple II, Jellyfish, Herbert, and Sand Dollar - h1 {
  • Dots, Jellyfish and Harbour are not recommended for customization.

Go to your template and find the appropriate code.

  • { means that this is where the code will start. And as we all know everything that is started must be closed. } means that the code is being closed. So in between the opening and the closing, you will find background: or background-image:

Highlight the entire line and replace with your new header:

  • background: #eeeeee url(http://www.yourimage.com/image.jpg);

  • If a background: or background-image: can not be found in between { and } in your template, go ahead and paste your new header right after {.

Preview the changes you have made and only if it is acceptable should you save it.

Now for the fun part, what to replace your old boring header with? Go to Big Stock Photo and find the coolest image to use as your header. You can download royalty free photos, beautiful art, comics to use for your header for about $1 or $2.

Good luck! And I hope your new blog header looks fantastic! Questions? Leave a comment.

Of course, my mom changed her plans again. Without telling me. So, now I'm stuck at her house waiting for her to come back for the next hour and a half. I could have used that time to sleep in longer today because we were out quite late last night drinking.

    Oh, well.

I just wanted to let everybody know that I have opened two communities at www.contentpop.com - Health / Beauty and Shopping / Shopping Coupons. These sites are similar to Digg except that this is just for beauty and shopping oriented article promotions. So, if you have anything to promote anything relating, please make sure to post your articles there. The traffic is not as big as Digg of course, but it should gain momentum. Or you can just pass by and vote for my articles. That would be very nice and appreciated....

It's a very busy weekend. Being self employed and working from home, I really dont get a chance to go anywhere away from the house. I havent had this much social interaction since Carrie and I did our downtown mecca trek a couple of Fridays ago.

Yesterday, I jumped back on the fitness wagon after a week of blissful rest. Why is it always harder to run that extra mile or do the last set? It felt like a futile effort for the first half an hour but I stuck it out for two hours. Did the treamill, the ski machine and medicine ball exercises. Wow, did I feel good afterwards.

After the gym, Lem and I went to visit his friend from university to pick up his brand new shiny cell phone and then treated ourselves to a dinner out at a Greek restaurant. Lem and I were still in our sweaty sweats and since it's a Friday night, folks were out and about dressed to the nines. I hoped nobody could smell us above their souvlaki dinners.

Today I woke up late. Lounged around. Watched one episode after another of Law & Order, and CSI. Didnt get a chance to do much work on the internet. I think I deserve a day off. Lem and I went over to a get together of his university buddies at about 8 tonight. They all graduated from the same program - Business Administration Entrepreneurial Leadership Degree. Pretty much everyone was compairing notes of what they've been up to since school let out two years ago. They've all done so well for themselves by being their own bosses. It's really about working smarter - and Lem takes the cake for that one. He works 3 1/2 hours a day making the cash that an senior executive makes working 70 hours a week. Oh, the power of the internet.

Tomorrow is another long day for me. I'll be going over to my mom's for the weekly visit. Drop her off church. Maybe hangout at a coffee shop with the laptop and do some work. Pick her up and maybe do some shopping. So there'll be a lot more personal stuff to talk about.....

Lately I've just been so tired. I get sleepy at the most weirdest time of the day. I always have to fight this urge to sleep.

But when it comes to the time I actually have to go to sleep at night, I just dont want to. I look for every excuse not to - long hour showers, read a book.... Even when I am so tired. I just dont know why.

And when I do go to sleep, I want to sleep forever. And not wake up.

No, No. I am not subscribing to another meme. I had problems even keeping up with Thursday Thirteen, I cant possibly be part of another.

All I've been doing yesterday and today is revamping The Discount Diva. I only left my desk to eat, shower, and sleep. Poor Lem. He's looking around saying who's gonna clean up all this mess?

It's such a love hate relationship you know? I took it apart, pulled it back together. Didnt like what I got. I'm really not that artistic and have never been good with matching colors. Tried to look for pre-made templates. Didnt like any of the choices. Decided to have another go at my own design. And finally, I've struck gold. Well, at least I think I have struck gold. I am satisfied with the design that I will absolutely stop talking about this site on my personal blog. It's done baby. And it's going on it's own domain tomorrow.

Lem took me out for something to eat at the mall. That's his way of bribing me to get off the computer and help him find color swatches at Walmart. We just got our new batch of products from China for our ebay store, and he's been quite excited to get them all photographed and posted online. That's also me, his photographer. We've got some cool new stuff like red leather wristbands and your cute nurse outfits. He's been walking around wearing the white nurse's hat saying "Look at me, I'm a sushi chef." I dont even know where to file that one.....

Anyway, at the mall, there was this 3 year old girl walking around with the most irritating shoes that squeeked. I told Lem that when we have children, I am buying them all a pair of those so that when we go out in public, I can hear exactly where they are. He just looked at me and probably figured that I'd forget all about when we have kids.

I'm trying to locate Carrie. So, if you are reading this, I am looking for you..... I cant get through your cell phone. I am going to send you an email also. Call me. Call me.
