Each website I make, I try to gear to a specific audience. I keep all my sites as simple as possible. I try to use smaller word syllables and simple sentence structures. I want to attract readers that are the tv guide types who also likes to read novels from time to time. Not the Academic type - I will have nothing to offer them and they will be so bored with my site.

There is a scientific algorithm method to measure of how easy it is to read and comprehend a document. Really. And it has been in existence since the 1920s.

For a document to be easily understood, the writing style should be clear and simple. This involves a writing style that is direct, and familiar to the intended reader. The structure of the document should be logical, unambiguous, and avoid redundant words. - Juicy Studio

Reading Tests like Juicy Studio's are meant to be a guidelines. It will not tell you how much your readers enjoyed your site, but it will tell you if you are reaching your target audience.

So, is your website reaching its target audience?
