A note to Mother Nature, cut the global warming crap and give me back my sun.I was washing dishes and noticed through the window that it is snowing again. For a minute I thought, God, I am glad I didn't move to Alberta. Then it occured to me that even if Alberta is having their snowstorms, weather like this just doesn't happen to Vancouver. British Columbia is the warmest province in all of Canada. It rarely snows. It just rains a lot.
Last Monday's snow storm marks the 15th storm we have had since November. I guess I don't know if you count today's snowflakes as the 16th. How screwed up is that?
I moved here in 1998 from California so I am used to Santa Ana winds blowing through for days, but the storms we've had here are just plain freaky. The blow for days gone for a day and then back for another two days. If that's not bad enough, snow storms come right after that. Then the whole cycle begins. We've had power outages, internet problems, and all hell has broken loose on the streets. It snowed so much that a radio station reported a snow plow just working on a 2 mile radius going back and forth could not keep up because the snow was coming down so fast the size of mini snowballs.
In the meantime, Ontario's skiing season is a nightmare since they've been having Vancouver's might fine winter weather. It's also affecting gas prices. Here in British Columbia we pay an average of $0.25+ more per litter. Worldwide effects are pretty bizarre - Switzerland's bald ski slopes and snow in Los Angeles?
